ASPIRE ART GALLERY WELCOMES THE BLUE HERON SUMI-E ASSOCIATION GALLERY OF ASIAN ART EXHIBITION

The Blue Heron Chapter of the Sumi-e Association of America has about 50 members here in Hampton Roads and offers encouragement and educational insights into the art of Asia, brushed ink, and watercolor painting. It is an honor and privilege to be partnering with the Aspire Art Gallery during the month of April to promote this ancient art.
The exhibition’s name is “It’s All In The Brush,” referencing the Asian art of loading ink and watercolor in the bristles of the brush so that one stroke “magically” contains multiple shades of black, gray, and color.
Mike Lane is the former President of the Blue Heron board. After years of working in China, he returned to the USA and has enjoyed painting and exhibiting in various galleries in Hampton Roads—including Gallery 21 in Norfolk and the Sandler Center in Virginia Beach.
